The Xbox 360 is the game console of Microsoft. It is the successor of the Xbox. It competes with both Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3 as part of the seventh generation of gaming consoles.
The Xbox 360 was totally sold out at the release, and has already shipped more than 11 million units. It has an wireless controller, and there's Xbox Live. This service allows players to compete online and download games, trailers, TV shows, music and videos.

Xbox 360 Dashboard:
This is the console's graphical user interface. It has tabs that features four 'Blades'. It will pop up if there is no disc inserted, or if the disk has been ejected.
The Xbox 360 Live dashboard shows:
- The User's Gamecard: Here you can see how many games you have played, what your score is and your achievements.
- Xbox Live Messages: The messages you have received
- Friends List: A list with all friends you have made. You can send them messages from here.
- Personal and Music Settings: Here you can configure your settings.
The Controller:
This is the Xbox 360 Controller (picture to the left). It is a wireless controller, and it has no special features. The buttons are almost totally the same as on the Xbox, but some buttons have been moved. And the big difference is that it is white and wireless. The traditional controller (the one from the original Xbox) is black, and it has a large wire. That's one thing of the seventh generation: all (Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony) have made wireless controllers.
Backward Compatibility:
The Xbox 360 is backward compatible with some games. Now it is possible to play games from the original Xbox, on the Xbox 360. There are until now only about 300 Xbox titles, that you can play on your Xbox 360, but these numbers should be growing. There is also a problem, that it doesn't perform well, and that it has many glitches. You also need a emulation profile before you can do this.
